I Will Not Bury My Romantic Soul is a performance and installation by (Ellen) Lili Vanderstraeten created in Reykjavik (IS) based on the legacy of Brazilian artist Lygia Clark.
“ I expierence my body often as num, alien to itself and hyper sensitive.
One year ago I stumbled upon a video on youtube called ‘Memoria do corpo’
by the Brazilian artist Lygia Clark.
After this encounter I started a journey, guided by Lygia, of collecting and crafting objects and applying them to peoples bodies.
In silence, repetitively and over a specific period of time.
In these sessions I practice sensible listening to the other and open up for spaces where new pulsations and sensations can arise,
in the hope that some of our bodily burdens can be lightened.
The performance is the result of my desire to open up my research in a collective experience. ”

UNI Beautysalon, is an artistic and experimental beautysalon created by (Ellen) Lili Vanderstraeten in collaboration with Elise Gyshelen and Florencia Orlandino, presented during the participatory arts festival ENTER BXL 2018 in dialogue with the neighborhood Laken in Brussels (BE).
UNI Beautysalon is a project that is established in collaboration with children and children organizations located in the area Bockstael, Brussels. The proposition of the beautysalon is to reflect as a collective head on the meaning of beauty in our society.
During the residency period various propositions were held in the saloon to build on its visual character. To construct a space where bodies can move as they really desire, evoking sensations that resonate deeply into the interior body by external proposed textures. At the end of the residency, a four days festival was held where we celebrated in the form of an ongoing performance and sensory installation, including one-to-one performances as well as collective actions.

Dancing Darlings is an installation (labyrint with many different rooms) and one-to-one performance created by (Ellen) Lili Vanderstraeten in collaboration with visual artist Elise Gyshelen
A performance journey that reflects on the relationship between the self and the other, the interior and exterior.
Dancing Darlings talks about the desire to be loved. The desire to structure a self.
Stage and audience intertwine when spectator and performer get lost in a voyeuristic game of watching and being watched.
During four days different people were invited to go, alone and for one hour, on a journey with three performers within a sensorial multimaterial labyrinth.
The visitor follow performers that tell their stories through moving images that unravel through touch with objects & other bodies,
creating together with the visitor an unique ritual.
